In 1977, artist VCJ created two black-and-white posters to advertise Bones wheels. A year later, Court transformed the Bones theme into a skateboarding skeleton concept. To achieve a lifelike image, George purchased a full-sized skeleton from a medical supply store. The skeleton, named Rosie by Court, was carefully placed and secured in a skateboarding position. Court then began work on the piece, finishing it in late 1978. This artwork became the first graphic used for Bones stickers and T-shirts under the new Powell Peralta brand.
